No letup in US gun violence. At least 27 people have been killed in shooting incidents across the country on Christmas Day this year.
The victims included the parents of a child who were shot during a robbery in Columbus, Ohio; a young couple killed in their vehicle near Augusta, Maine; and the owner of a barbershop in Alabama who was known as a strong voice against crime. At least two of the Christmas Day gun incidents qualified as mass shootings with four or more people targeted. An average of 12,000 gun murders happen in the US each year. That's more than 20 times the rate in other developed countries. Critics blame the liberal gun control laws for the high rate of shootings.
