Hundreds of alpaca owners and enthusiasts from across the country attended the Alpaca Costume Contest at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado on Saturday, to see their favourite four-legged fluff balls compete in different costumes.
Both adults and children attended the event, where they could meet and take pictures with the alpacas and see the animals strut through the arena's main ring dressed up in a variety of curious attires.
The costumes were judged on several aspects, including the ability of the animal to parade while wearing the attire, its originality and the story behind the alpaca's apparel. The judges also evaluated the animals' looks.
The Alpaca Costume Contest was part of the Alpaca Owners Association National Show and Auction, which runs from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th March at the National Western Complex.
