The man a city police lieutenant allegedly shoved inside a liquor store earlier this month reportedly cursed at the officer, according to new reports obtained by The Daily Journal. Lt. Carl Heger, who was off-duty at the time, appeared to exchange words with the victim walking behind him while coming through the main entrance of Joe Canal's Discount Liquors the evening of April 9, according to a police report. Heger, 40, turned around to face the man, identified as Walter L. Jackson, 52, of South 3rd Street, and shoved him after what was believed to be a brief exchange of words. Store employees intervened after Jackson fell on his back. Police said one store employee told them Jackson was told to leave the store after saying something to Heger. Authorities said the employee heard Jackson tell Heger that, "I'll be waiting for you outside, m*****f*****." It's unclear in the report if Jackson made the remark before or after he was shown being shoved on surveillance footage. The Daily Journal obtained the arrest reports as part of an Open Public Records Act request for information regarding the Heger case and the unrelated arrest of another city police lieutenant on drunken driving charges. According to the reports, Jackson then left the store and was captured on store video walking near the south side of the parking lot. Heger then walked back inside. Police Officer Michael Calchi, who responded to the incident and filed the report, requested a police supervisor to the scene. No other information was sent to dispatch referring to the incident, according to the reports. {{file|t=uCBXE_1544427500}}
