Russia first made some moves to extend the retirement age until past the life expectancy of the country's alcoholic citizens. Now they figure they should call a spade, a spade.. and abolish pensions altogether. What's funny, is that this sneak attack comes IMMEDIATELY after putin gets re-elected for an EXTENDED 6-year term (after he rewrote the constitution for himself). Now it's too late to remove him as he continues to drain the country for his personal image.
Seems like the stoic face of the russian government broke after years of sanctions and sanction extensions. And this time the victims are their own elderly and disabled citizens - the main part of the population that supported him.
After seeing the red light on new sanctions and the economy (and ruble) tanking to almost new lows every day. The russian government says they have run out of money to subsidize their aging population (who has been paying into the pension fund all their lives).
Here are some other routes the voldamort pootin dictatorship could have taken:
- Not paying billions of dollars to prop up illegally annexed Crimea and incurring sanctions
- Not spending billions go to war with neighbors that were supposedly friends, and incurring more sanctions

- Not making enemies with every single civilized nation

What's even more ridiculous is the cynical response that a government official gave to an elderly lady when she stated she would be working until she died because of the new pension age.
The politician responds: "Don't worry you will be living longer because we are building new sports and activities for you to be healthy"
