I shut off the car after a few minutes forgetting it would turn off the dash. Consequently I missed the final interaction with the ranger. Also did this as a courtesy to make the ranger more at ease.
Below is a summary of the dialogue once said Ranger returned to the car:
Ranger: here's your license registration and insurance, where are we coming from tonight?
Me: oh I'm coming from a friend's house, I was having some exhaust work done and then just going back home.
Me: and I understand there are no passing signs and the law for no passing. A few years back there were passing zones- I really wish they still had them I feel it would makes things safer for people
Ranger interrupts: yeah I understand I travel this road all the time and yes- people would pull to the side.
Me: Yeah so again I'm sorry about that I'm coming from Philly and its 2 1/2 hours away, I'm sorry.
Ranger: so I'm only going to give you a warning tonight.
Me: oh really! Thank you I really appreciate that.
Ranger: my main concern was not the passing so much as dear and other wildlife. "I'm sure this car can get up and go but its ok until it isn't". There are the deer and we had in individual hit a bear on this road earlier tonight.
Me: oh really? Wow
Ranger: so we have you in the system so while I'm giving you a warning tonight if I see you do it again I will give you a ticket.
Me: yes I understand sorry.
Ranger: so how much alcohol tonight>?
Me: oh none.
Ranger: GOOD answer *Hands back registration/other info.
Me: And Thank you very much again I know you don't have to do that.
Ranger: Ok, Have a good night.
