Everyone in the world (except 8 in Bangladesh and 4 in Peru) knows about The Great Storm that battered the south coast of glorious Devon destroying LiveLeak's adopted World Famous Sea Wall in Dawlish which was built by the great man himself Isambard Kingdom Brunel the premier of railway building during the 1800's..... Triv: when people said to him, "I K you can't build a railway line there" he replied; "Nonsense, a great engineer can build anything anywhere" and so the line was built....it has suffered three storms during its 150+ years of use so it has has stood the test of time considering the massive amount of use it gets because it's the Great Western Railways (GWR....which some say really stands for 'God's Wonderful Railway') Main Line down to Penzance in Beautiful Cornwall (about another hours travel further on down the line from here).
This isn't the drone flyby that was posted here three years back or so this is AMCO Rail's own vid taken sea-side showing the Haven Seariser which was leased for 14 months to work from the sea-side. the old step construction of the seawall was replaced with 'armoured concrete' wall sections (mixed with the residue of blast furnaces which gives for exceptionally strong gunk) in effect making the wall a lot higher than it was.
If you ever get a chance to go down to Dawlish in glorious south Devon ..just down the road from Fawlty Towers Land in Torquay... where there's great Bed n Breakfasts and some have very obliging Land-ladies for young and single men down from the city... It's still relatively unspoilt and a pleasure to the senses... Dawlish's town motto is 'The Home of the Black Swan'.... there are lot's of them nesting in a river near by.
Anyway.
