I'm thinking a drug capo or someone in the higher ups of the cartels.
A Department of Homeland Security agent fatally shot a person Tuesday on San Antonio's South Side, police said.
The agent opened fire on the person around 7 a.m. near Ferndale and Vermont streets.
No Homeland Security agents were injured.
Few details on the events leading to the shooting were immediately available. San Antonio police have responded to the scene to assist Homeland Security.
"We're just going to provide any support they need in securing the crime scene while they conduct their follow up," said Sgt. Darryl Rooks.
At least a dozen Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are on scene, though police could not confirm whether Tuesday's operation was immigration-related.
The Department of Homeland Security was created after the September 11 terrorist attacks and mainly handles anti-terrorism, immigration and cyber security, among other responsibilities.
