Two children rescued from roof of sinking vehicle stuck in flooding during very stormy day in Israel

Two children, Ariel (6) and Shani (9), and their 70-year-old grandfather were rescued from a jeep while suffering from hypothermia today during Israel's worst storm of the season so far. They were driving in an open area near the town of Hadera when the vehicle became stuck in a huge puddle. The two children had climbed on to the roof of the vehicle due to the depth of the water. A police car which was towing the vehicle also became stuck in the water, and had to be pulled out by the rescue services. The fire brigade was able to rescue them and they were taken to the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in fair condition. Several main roads were closed due to flooding, such as Route 70. Route 581 north of Netanya was also blocked in both directions due to a fallen tree. Part of Hayarkon Street in Tel Aviv was closed due to a massive pothole.
