I came across this stag beetle clinging to the ceiling near the light outside of my front door, and as I had seen the local cats chasing and catching billy-witches, I decided to move it to a safer place. As the stag beetle is a protected species I used a pint glass to move it, the thing I find interesting is that for the first six years of their lives the stag beetle lives underground as first eggs and then larva, then emerging as a grown beetle. The adult beetle only lives from May to August with their main goal to find a mate, so the cycle can begin again.
