Clashes erupted between riot police and leftist protesters in the centre of Pamplona, Saturday, after demonstrators demanded that amnesty be granted to former members of the separatist group ETA or 'Basque Country and Freedom' currently in prison.
As police officers attempted to break up the protest, activists began throwing stones, flares, and fireworks, turning over garbage bins and setting them on fire. The main streets of the Navarrese capital were blocked, with shops and cafes closed due to the severe escalation of the protest.
As a result of the clashes, two police officers were injured and four protesters were arrested, accused of public disorder and damages.
