Beijing has introduced a state-of-the-art fire-extinguishing system based on the concept of a multiple rocket launcher, built specifically to fight fires in high-rise buildings in the Chinese capitals Central Business District.
Explaining the concept on Tuesday, head of the agency that designed the machine, Military and Civilian Integrated Industry for China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Zhou Kai emphasised the need for the new system in the system.

For example, not so long ago there was a huge fire disaster in a Russian high rise. The existing firetrucks are not sufficient for fires in high altitudes. With this in mind, we made use of our patent technologies and invented this new fire-extinguishing rocket system."

(Mandarin): "With this new system, the fire-fighting rocket can be launched to a particular position in a building in flames, quickly and precisely. It can be aimed at a target over 100 metres high, up to 300 metres."

We should put new technologies in use for the fire-fighting and rescue fields. The new devices will meet the higher demands from the public service industry. In a more realistic case, safety is the eternal main theme in a society, and people mainly care about safety standards in food, clothing, living and transportation. What we are doing here is to make technology serve the people's safety."
