Hundreds of French high-school students have staged a protest against the police in Paris.
There were sporadic outbreaks of violence after the protest broke up.
Protesters blocked the entrances to a dozen schools in the French capital.
The Paris school authority said more than 10 schools had been targeted by youths who piled up rubbish bins and other objects at the entrance gates.
A deputy school director was reportedly injured when protesters hurled a fire extinguisher.

Social media networks suggested skirmishes broke out on the fringes of a rally in the Place de la Nation, a large square in the east of Paris.
Riot police in protective headgear advanced on groups of mainly hooded youths.
A helicopter flew overhead and tear gas clouds rose into the air.

What was the protest about?
It is the latest in a series of demonstrations about the alleged rape of a young black man by police, who are said to have used a baton.
The 22-year-old was allegedly assaulted during an arrest attempt on February 2.
Four police officers have been suspended pending an inquiry into the incident on February 2.
One has been placed under formal investigation for suspected rape.
Three others are under formal investigation for unnecessary use of force.
The man, known has Theo, has been treated in hospitals for injuries to the anus and the head.
He has called for public calm. His family say they have faith in the French justice system.

Have there been any arrests following Thursday's protests?
Yes.
French police say eight people have been arrested after what are described as isolated skirmishes with youths.
They say objects were thrown and property was damaged on the fringes of what otherwise appears to have been relatively peaceful demonstrations.
Police in Paris had warned people to stay away from the protest.
They said it was not authorised and there was a risk of violent groups causing trouble.
